Metron PPS

Polyphenylene Sulfide

Metron PPS family of materials is a range of semi-crystalline polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), heat-resistant polymer that exhibits a simple chemical structure comprising benzene and sulfur. Metron PPS is designed to fill the performance and price gap between standard thermoplastics and high-end engineering plastics. By offering a balance of properties and cost, Metron PPS provides an attractive alternative to high-end materials like PBI, PI, PAI, and PEEK, which may be too expensive. This makes Metron PPS an ideal choice for applications where a high-performance material is needed at a competitive price

Key Properties of Metron PPS

  1. High Maximum Allowable Service Temperature: 220°C continuously, up to 260°C for short periods of time, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
  2. High Mechanical Strength, Stiffness, and Creep Resistance: Exhibits excellent mechanical properties, even at elevated temperatures, ensuring consistent performance in demanding environments.
  3. Excellent Chemical and Hydrolysis Resistance: Resists chemical corrosion and degradation from water, acids, and bases, ensuring durability in harsh environments.
  4. Very Good Dimensional Stability: Maintains its shape and size even when exposed to temperature changes, humidity, or chemical environments.
  5. Excellent Wear and Frictional Behaviour: Displays low friction and wear rates, reducing maintenance needs and extending component lifespan.
  6. Self-Extinguishing: Metron PPS exhibits inherent flame retardancy, eliminating the need for additional flame retardants.
