Metron PEEK
PolyEtherEtherKetone
Metron PEEK is composed of many ether and ketone units. The aryl and ketone groups in PEEK’s structure provide stiffness, contributing to its excellent mechanical performance and high melting point. The ether groups add flexibility, making PEEK tough, while also providing resistance to chemical attack due to their unreactive nature.
The regular structure of PEEK’s repeat units allows for partial crystallization, which enhances its resistance to wear, creep, fatigue, and chemicals. This unique combination of properties makes PEEK one of the highest-performing thermoplastics globally.
Compared to metals, PEEK-based materials offer several advantages. They are lightweight, easily shaped, and resistant to corrosion, strength per unit weight can be significantly higher than that of metals, making it an attractive material for demanding applications
